    This session will cover formatting your cover letter, résumé and thank-you letter in such a way to appeal to employers, highlighting marketable skills and writing concise descriptions of your job duties and accomplishments as well as providing other valuable information. Presented by WorkOne staff.

  • From Hard Time to Full Time
    Looking for a fresh start? This workshop is for ex-offenders (released, on probation or on parole) who are looking for tips on finding and keeping employment and also wish to discuss ways to overcome the barriers to employment that people with criminal histories face. The Work Opportunity Tax Credit will be discussed and information will be given on how ex-offenders and businesses can take advantage of it. Presented by WorkOne staff.   • GED and Adult Basic Education Classes
    These classes are structured for individuals who need to prepare for and obtain a GED high school equivalency diploma by taking a test. Or for adults who may have a high school diploma but just need to brush up on their basic skills. No pre-registration is required. Cost of the placement test and books is $20.

  • Interviewing Skills

    Always getting the interview, but never the job? Nervous during an interview? This workshop will teach you the do's and don'ts of interviewing, how to prepare for an interview and how to effectively answer interviewing questions with your STAR stories. Learn what kind of questions to expect during an interview and what kind of questions you should ask. Practive answering behavioral questions and learn how to negotiate your salary.



  • Job Corps
    Get information and insight on how Job Corps can benefit you. The program serves young people ages 16-24 years old. Please stop between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays at WorkOne East and ask for Shannon. She will provide information on Job Corps and résumé and job search advice.   • Veterans’ Career Exploration
    This workshop is designed specifically for veterans and transitioning military personnel who require assistance and tips for converting their military education, experience and terminology into a civilian résumé. Topics will include tips on interviewing techniques, completing job applications and composing a résumé that incorporates your military experience. Presented by WorkOne veteran staff.     In today's business climate, technical skills are not always enough to guarantee success. In this workshop we will identify areas such as working as a team member, applying good listening skills, acquiring and evaluating information, following and giving basic instructions, exercising leadership, etc. that can increase your marketability.  We will discuss how these "soft skills" can impact your job search.     A good employee has the skills to do the job. But a great employee has skills plus the attitude, approach and ability to interact well with others that lead to advancement in the workplace. This workshop will help you understand the attributes that make you a successful worker.

  • Healthy Indiana Plan
    This session will offer information about the Healthy Indiana Plan. The Healthy Indiana Plan will provide health insurance for uninsured adult Hoosiers between the ages of 19-64 whose household income is between 22 - 200 percent of the federal poverty level and are not eligible for Medicaid. Eligible participants must be uninsured for at least six months and cannot be eligible for employer sponsored health insurance.

  • Computer Basics
    Learn the basics of the computer and the Internet. Learn the steps for applying for positions online, posting your resume on job boards, setting up an e-mail account and using Indiana Career Connect to conduct your online job search. Also learn the basics of Microsoft Word and Excel. Use online tutorials to improve your understanding and skills of MS Office products.

  • Basic Maneuvering in Indiana Career Connect
    The State of Indiana has launched a cutting edged tool to assist you in your job search. The Indiana Career Connect website (indianacareerconnect.com) is a holistic tool to give access not only to jobs posted with WorkOne but gives you access to a vast majority of jobs posted on internet job search sites. This staff led workshop will walk you through the basic set-up of a quality job matching resume and show you the job search capabilities of this system.

  • Advanced Usage of Indiana Career Connect
    The state of Indiana has launched a cutting edged tool to assist you in you job search. Learn the details of what this system has to offer in a staff led format. You will wak through the assessments available in this system, the resources in this system, and be shown how to post multiple resumes to mirror your job interests. In order to attend this workshop you must have an active and matchable resume in the ICC system.

This two-session workshop will introduce beginners to the basic functions and concepts of the computer. This workshop will include information on word processing, Internet, and Windows operating system. Only 15 seats will be available. You must be registered by a WorkOne staff member to attend this workshop.

  • Keyboarding Basics and Keyboarding Lab

    If you struggle with typing on a computer keyboard and are looking to increase your productivity on your next job, then this ongoing workshop is for you. In this workshop you will get the basics for touch typing. You will learn the home keys and be given resources to continue your improvement anywhere you have access to the internet and a keyboard. If you don't have access to a computer, you can attend these sessions on an ongoing basis to get the practice work you need to succeed.



  • Career Exploration and Results
    If you are having trouble determining your interests and confused with the direction to take your career, then this tw-part workshop is for you. In these sessions you will have the opportunity to determine your interests, values and abilities through the COPs series interest survey and have your answers interpreted in a way that you can utilize to explore career options.

    An open lab to allow access to customers that have sought out received a Mindleaders Account. If you are curious as to what Mindleaders is and can do for your employment search, then please ask any WorkOne staff member for assistance and information.
